Transforming Sepsis Care: Rapid Identification and Resistance Profiling of Gram-Negative Blood Cultures

Molecular diagnostics
Online

Join us on July 9, 2026, for an educational Labroots webinar examining how syndromic testing is transforming the diagnosis and clinical management of bloodstream infections (BSIs). This session will highlight real‑world applications of syndromic testing and its role in streamlining diagnostic workflows and supporting antimicrobial stewardship efforts.

Title
Transforming Sepsis Care: Rapid Identification and Resistance Profiling of Gram-Negative Blood Cultures

Speaker

Neelam Dhiman, PhD
Scientific Director, Molecular Infectious Disease, Quest Diagnostics
Clinical Associate Professor, Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Texas A&M University

__

Gram‑negative bloodstream infections are associated with significant morbidity and mortality, making timely pathogen identification and resistance detection critical to both patient management and antimicrobial stewardship.

Partnering with Labroots, in this webinar, Neelam Dhiman, PhD, Director of Science in Molecular Infectious Diseases at Quest Diagnostics, will present findings from a large multicenter evaluation assessing rapid identification of Gram‑negative pathogens and key antimicrobial resistance genes directly from positive blood cultures. Drawing on data from more than 1,300 samples across four US clinical sites, the session will highlight assay performance, real‑world epidemiology, and analytical robustness across common and clinically significant organisms.

Attendees will learn how rapid, sample‑to‑answer diagnostic approaches can integrate into existing blood culture workflows, provide earlier actionable information, and support more timely antimicrobial stewardship interventions. This webinar is intended for clinical microbiology professionals, laboratory leaders, and infectious disease and stewardship collaborators seeking evidence‑based solutions to enhance blood culture diagnostics.

Learning Objectives

After participating in this webinar, attendees will be able to:

  • Describe the clinical impact of rapid pathogen and antimicrobial resistance detection in Gram‑negative bloodstream infections and its role in supporting antimicrobial stewardship.
  • Understand the design, methodology, and key performance outcomes of a multicenter clinical evaluation assessing rapid molecular testing from positive blood cultures.
  • Discuss how rapid, sample‑to‑answer diagnostic assays can be integrated into existing blood culture workflows to provide earlier actionable results for laboratory and clinical teams.
