MagPlex® Monitoring Microspheres
Monitor assay and instrument performance
About
MagPlex® Monitoring Microspheres are magnetic polystyrene beads that provide insight into factors impacting target median fluorescent intensity (MFI) values, including instrument fluctuations and user error.
All microspheres are general-use components for further manufacture of xMAP® bioassays.
Features
- Magnetic Microspheres: MagPlex® Monitoring Microspheres are magnetic polystyrene microparticles that have been color-coded to classify to a specific region.
- Additional reporter dye: In addition to the classification dyes, MagPlex® Monitoring Microspheres contain an internal reporter dye that generates reporter median fluorescent intensity (MFI) values specific to instrument-type and reporter modes.
- Microsphere interrogation: The MagPlex® Monitoring Microsphere is excited by the optical system of the xMAP® Instrument, and resulting MFIs can be analyzed for indications of performance errors.
Benefits
- Increased confidence in your results: Monitor well-to-well assay performance for errors, ensuring each individual well has not been impacted by external factors.
- Broad application areas: These microspheres can be incorporated into various assay formats, including proteomic and genomic applications.
- The ability to pinpoint errors quickly: MFI values generated using these microspheres can eliminate instrument and user errors as a source of unexpected results.
Workflow
MagPlex® Monitoring Microspheres can be incorporated into new or existing assays.

Incorporate MagPlex® Monitoring Microspheres into bead mix
After assay validation, incorporate MagPlex® Monitor beads into the assay bead mix.
Perform assay steps as normal.

Analyze samples
Analyze each sample well, containing both the assay and monitoring beads, on an xMAP® instrument.

Review results
Compare results to validated assay thresholds to verify there are no user errors or instrument malfunctions.
