Customizable Syndromic Respiratory Panels: A Flexible Strategy for Stewardship, Reimbursement, and Rapid Response
This presentation highlights how customizable syndromic panels can address key challenges in respiratory diagnostics, including reimbursement constraints, clinical relevance, and the need for operational adaptability. Featuring the LIAISON PLEX® System from Diasorin, the discussion will explore how flexible panel configurations can be tailored to meet the needs of both centralized health systems and affiliated outreach sites. This includes options such as point-of-care (POC) reflex panels or rapidly deployable targeted assays during seasonal surges, such as pertussis outbreaks or mycoplasma-driven atypical pneumonia. Real-world implementation strategies will be shared, with a focus on how customizable panels can align with billing and coding best practices to support appropriate reimbursement. Examples will also illustrate how laboratory information systems (LIS) can be configured to streamline order entry, reflex testing, and result reporting, helping institutions improve workflow efficiency while supporting diagnostic stewardship and cost containment.
