The LIAISON® Measles assays panel (IgG, IgM) is a complete solution to support clinicians in the differential diagnosis of measles virus infection and assessment of immune protection.
LIAISON® Measles IgG
LIAISON® Measles IgG is a CLIA assay for the semi-quantitative determination of specific IgG antibodies to measles virus in human serum or plasma samples. It is intended to be used as an aid in the determination of serological status to measles virus.

LIAISON® Measles IgM is a CLIA assay for the qualitative determination of specific IgM antibodies to measles virus in human serum or plasma samples.
Background
Diagnostic testing for measles infection is recommended for patients with symptoms of the disease if they are known to be non-immune or if they have travelled recently to endemic regions. Symptoms of measles infection may also include neurological manifestations consistent with viral encephalitis or meningitis. Testing for immunity is recommended for individuals with increased vulnerability to infections (e.g., patients undergoing immunosuppression treatment) and those with increased risk to exposure and transmission (e.g., healthcare workers).
Measles is an acute viral illness caused by a morbillivirus of the paramyxovirus family and is one of the most easily transmitted diseases. Transmission is primarily by large droplet spread or direct contact with nasal or throat secretions from an infected person.
