LIAISON® Cytomegalovirus (CMV) Diagnostic Solution
The diagnosis of Human Cytomegalovirus infection in pregnant women has a particular importance to estimate potential risk of fetal damages.
The LIAISON® CMV assay panel (IgG, IgM, IgG Avidity) is a complete solution to support clinicians in detecting and dating the infection.
LIAISON® CMV IgG II
LIAISON® CMV IgG II is a CLIA assay for the quantitative determination of specific IgG antibodies to hCMV in human serum or plasma samples.
LIAISON® CMV IgM II
LIAISON® CMV IgM II is a CLIA assay for the semi-quantitative determination of specific IgM antibodies to CMV in human serum or plasma samples.
LIAISON® CMV IgG Avidity II
LIAISON® CMV IgG Avidity II is a CLIA assay for the determination of antigen-binding avidity of IgG antibodies to CMV in human serum or plasma samples.
Background
Human Cytomegalovirus (CMV) is the most common cause of viral intrauterine infection. Fetal damage is mostly due to maternal primary infection. Intrauterine transmission of CMV is significantly reduced in immunoprotected mothers compared to primary infections contracted during pregnancy (< 2% vs 40-50%, respectively). As infections are either asymptomatic or accompanied by symptoms which are non-specific for CMV, laboratory techniques are the sole means of diagnosing acute infections. Early diagnosis of primary infection requires a highly sensitive and quantitative assay for IgG and IgM antibodies, to discriminate between chronic and recent infections. IgG Avidity improves the accuracy of diagnosis, dating the infection more precisely.

Why use LIAISON® Cytomegalovirus (CMV) Diagnostic Solution
The complete solution for Cytomegalovirus serology, from detection to dating of the infection and solving diagnostic ambiguities
LIAISON® CMV IgM to detect acute infections
Highly sensitive IgM assays for the early detection of infection and optimal specificity through selection of the proper cut-off.
LIAISON® CMV IgG and IgG avidity for infection dating
Measurement of IgG avidity may improve the accuracy of the serological diagnosis dating the infection more precisely. A high avidity index excludes recent Cytomegalovirus infection within the last four months.
