The LIAISON® Legionella Urinary Ag assay is an automated (CLIA) immunoassay for detection of Legionella spp. antigens as an aid in the diagnosis of Legionella infection, a common cause of CAP (Community-Acquired-Pneumonia).
Background
A new assay to empower laboratory performance in detecting Legionella Disease (LD)
Legionella species are common causes of community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) in those patients requiring hospitalization.
Legionnaires’ Disease is often underdiagnosed due to the lack of sensitivity with currently available urinary antigen tests that can detect only L. pneumonia serogroup 1.
LIAISON® Legionella Urinary Ag test allows healthcare professionals to quickly and accurately identify one of the most common causes of LD: L. pneumophila serogroup-1 plus non-L. pneumophila serogroup 1 and Legionella longbeachae.
How it works
LIAISON® Legionella Urinary Ag is an exclusive diagnostic solution built to detect the lipopolysaccharide antigen (LPS) for L. pneumophila serotype 1 and the new Legionella peptidoglycan-associated lipoprotein (PAL) assuring the detection of a broad-spectrum antigens serotypes.
